Kap Situweema (Ceremonial Planting of the Sacred Kap)

Marking the commencement of the 214th Annual Esala Maha Perahera Festival of the historic Kadudevola Siddha Rankadu Pattini Devalaya, the ceremonial planting of the sacred Kap (Mangul Kap) was conducted today at the auspicious time of 5:06 p.m., in accordance with the Kandyan tradition.

The Kap planting ceremony was ceremonially carried out in accordance with ancient customs and traditions under the leadership of the Chief Basnayake Nilame, Mr. Kularathne Wijethunga, and the Administrative Secretary, Mr. Shamal Wijethunga, with the participation of the Devalaya Poojopahara Committee and the villagers.
